“[Mạc Palace’s codename CA2403 wood board] is a collaborative art project between me and artist Jullian Mạc introducing two fictional concepts based on ancient Vietnamese culture.
[Lacquer in hell chapter] by Jullian Mạc is one short era in the journey of unfolding apocalyptic disasters of the two characters Shi - Vietnamese white snake and Yue Xin - Chinese jiangshi (Vampire). The gate to hell opened when Yue Xin was visiting Shi’s hometown. Just like other living entities and acquaintances, Shi and Yue Xin heard human’s pleas and offered help to suppress demons to escape hellscape, eventually to find the source of this abnormality.
[Matriarchy Empire of Space chapter] introduces the science fictional concept of society with high technical development while maintaining traditional cultural values of Vietnam (Viet Sci-fi). In this ideal societal construct, every individual contributes to the general development of all.
We hope that through our paintings, viewers would be inspired to have an alternative look into Vietnamese traditional culture while other content creators would be encouraged to dive into the topic more!” - Chử Ly An
